Earth Hour

I AM DOING IT

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

Transition

baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Its coming to end of Sunday.... if there was ever a roller coaster of emotion I could have gone thru in a weekend that comes to mine this would be the icing of the cake

From the Sat morning wedding to the Sat dinner, stepping up to the plate at 5.30pm at the hall to the bullshit political family, the talk the empty talk and yet people who work to get things together, the one that bend over and bend forward for the sake and very title they choose to defend called family. When the glasses were raised, speeches were made this would be the 2nd dinner in a row I did not drink (I have a reason)

I did not know who made seating arrangement but I moved my junior of a table where an idiot sat. On and on they went, and on and on it went, i kept my head low, building seething in me it came to a point where I almost wanted to stand up last at the idiot and walk away, unfortunately it was an uncle. I looked to my aunt and shook my head. All the rage I had against this person what he had done to my family and yet everything seemed normal. Focused on the task we had. Getting a dinner completed perfectly

On the journey back, I told mami how close i came to humiliating the bothers of hers but it was my patience that held my tongue and not made a scene that made me realise I did not have to lower my self to that level. but for a long time that night not the briefest of moments, it felt good to go down to his level and launch a traide a barrage of cheap 3rate explicits to show the world what an idiot he really is.

(oh yes I have baggage I been carrying for years of being nice being suppressed)

Then there was the showing up of a long lost family member like an episode of the Colbys who accused of my mother feeding her 3rd rate food and giving her son 1st rate food, flashback....what does mummy do at that time all forgivev... what does that Vadai do goes for her with a plate... (well the intent was there) till a cousin held me back.... back to present... so all uncles come and say this and that as if nothing happened...hmmm one had the cheek to come to me and say "you know Vadai... you are young... I was once your age...hot blooded... you know.... " my kind and polite reply... " my dear..... no one humiliated my family and get to walk away from it and the only reason your niece can still stand in front of me coz I promised my mom.... stunned eyes wide open he backed offf....

Anyway Jnr Vadai and I Had fun with the rest of the cousins dancing the night away and taking back yes wait... wait for the number ..... 12 bottles of wine.... anyone want some

Sunday morning political discourse of the right and wrong and opinions asked of me....i gave frank and direct assessments at least I have people who appreciate me for my brutal directness but also to help them look at the bigger picture of engaging back tothe funeral prayers Sunday evening.. and the eventual 31st day.

My aunt at the prayers prayed... gosh yes prayed over me.... hmmm I hope I strike

Alas after all the ironing out, seeing the light, being the family... it was a nice drive back to my apartment to watch my Liverpool play and start at 12 bottles of wine...

the song by KD Lang is worth it

kd lang - Hallelujah (London, 2008) Leonard Cohen

This song back fomr the 60's kind of got discovered by the new millenium producers and has become the "goto" song for irony and broken dreams/spirituality. Ironically, on it's surface it seems religious, but it's a sixties song, and find the lyrics and read them. VERRRRY disturbing , haunting and beautiful.

No one's cover of the song EVER came close to KD Lang

I posted this in my facebook and I am compelled to post it here... This is a tough weekend for me breaking off away form Funeral prayers then to the wedding then the reception the aftermath Sunday morning and returning to the funeral prayers has shaken me, drained me.. as i was walking past starbucks this song players, forget religion forget faith just feel the song.... death....

Family is like this

Sunday....

We blow trumpets and hold hands come together as family, we plaster walls we build bridges.. we get the job done, we out aside the differences even is you seated beside the person you hate the most in the family or you have to work with someone truly impossible, being family is just that, the a member of the family, dun wori if they cant see it the way you do... you would go home smiling coz you did something better for the family.

Just like a fren does for another

Leo tells Josh the following story (Josh refers to it when talking to Leo in "Bartlet for America"):
"This guy's walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can't get out.
"A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, 'Hey you. Can you help me out?' The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on.
"Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, 'Father, I'm down in this hole can you help me out?' The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on
"Then a friend walks by, 'Hey, Joe, it's me can you help me out?' And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, 'Are you stupid? Now we're both down here.' The friend says, 'Yeah, but I've been down here before and I know the way out.'"

Its the eve

Come April 1, to coin a phrase I would be involved in 4 weddings and a Funeral, starting with my cousins in Penang, my cousin end Jan, my uncle funeral and prayers culminating this coming Thursday, my cousins wedding today morning ( feel drained) and one of my long time buddies wedding Scuddie boy. In between that is me good brother and frequent 'ginger' chicken rice lunch partner Commie's bday.

Amidst all this I had to face off a office political bomb, separation of staff, have a quiet birthday taste old friends and meet new ones in somewhat of an effort to live in this cycle called life. Since I gave my mother my 2nd mobile number I had a lot of stick from certain people, my message was simple, I cant be carrying 14 numbers and change them all the time. I stick to one number and progress forward.

In the coming week, I must thread carefully (Snow when we celebrating ur bday) at thins as they are very critical, I have taken a few days away from work ( a miracle aint it) in an effort to charge, step back and relook.

Monday is gonna be interesting. for now, its 5am time to prepare to leave.......

A quote for a fren

Darthvadai has a quote for a fren
"you can't ask forgiveness of God until you've asked forgiveness of people on the day before."

Ask forgiveness

Yom Kippur , also known in English as the Day of Atonement, is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holidays. Its central themes are atonement and repentance.

Kop..... win it and does the double on them

Never thought I lived to see such a headline

Liverpool Storm Past Man United To Close Gap At Top

Liverpool came from behind to hit four goals at Old Trafford and reduce the gap at the top of table on a miserable day for the champions who also had Nemanja Vidic sent off.

Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool

Rafael Benitez might end up having the last laugh after all as his Liverpool side hauled themselves back into the title fight with a decisive 4-1 hammering of 10-man Manchester United at Old Trafford

Personally I feel the league title is going to be difficult but the way we did the double is awesome. To the end I could hear "You Never Walk Alone" being sung at old trafford !!! IMAGINE THAT

To quote my Captain

Gerrard said: ''The important thing is that we have made the gap smaller (United lead by four points still with a game in hand). We realise that Manchester United are a fantastic team and there's still a lot of work to do.

For the record

We All Live in a Red and White Kop

(Tune: Yellow Submarine, The Beatles)

On a Saturday afternoon
We support a team called Liverpool
And we sing until we drop (and we sail up to the top)
On the famous Spion Kop (of our red and white Spion Kop)

We all live in a red and white Kop
A red and white Kop
A red and white Kop

We all live in a red and white Kop
A red and white Kop
A red and white Kop

In a town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed the seas
And he told me of his pride
They were a famous football team
So we trailed to Anfield Road,
Singing songs of victory
And there we found the holy ground,
Of our hero Bill Shankly
We all live in a red and white Kop
A red and white Kop
A red and white Kop

We all live in a red and white Kop
A red and white Kop
A red and white Kop

We have heart

Liverpool only managed to scrape a win at Real Madrid in the first leg, but back at Anfield, there was no dispute who the clear winners were. A Torres opener and a Gerrard double sent the Reds on their way before Dossena made it 4-0 on the night to send Madrid crashing out 5-0 on aggregate!

Junior drumming away

Well he has a new interest 3 months strong and banging away...seem to like it not as much as banging drums but its a delight to see him practice

Being camera shy he still likes showing off, just like my cousin learned how to play the table. hopefully junior get hooked on this

Office Birthdays are back

Looks like monthly birthdays are back... like the tide and ebb time to time birthdays are on and birthdays are off... seem like the Welfare society has started their ball rolling with activities

It good that there are pot luck fridays and bi monthly birthday gathers...

Still underlining these events are the office politics

Mummy goes shoppping

Indulging elderly people in their fancies are one of the thrills once you realize that its a great joy for them so Mummy again wanted to go shopping for me, I hate people buying my clothes, I go I grab and wear that my style, unless something exquisite then I would indulge in a taste. So for one hours at her pestering we went shopping and ended with these. No doubt she was pleased and I was relived

Death in the Family

With reference to my quote in an earlier blog

An "Annai" to every one ..... just not sure what to type... in summary to quote not to compare ... Einstein on Gandhi – “generation to come, people would disbelieve that such a man flesh and blood ever walked on earth”....

It was a good funeral an uncle said ... what is a good funeral? As with all my uncles that had passed on I did my part, form the bathing the body, the coffin , the ceremonies to assit, to the oil putting ceremony, upfront and tot he fore. Why? Coz I know how to do it? So in passing someone said over the 3rd prayers " Dont let him do it? He is not qualified?" hhahaah turn the other cheek in rage and walk politely away.

We even had police escort all the way to the cremation place. Rock on.

In the end I was contended with what I had contributed and he went away in peace

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

Its March

Was sitting and talking with my Singapore fren, realized its March, not like I did not know the days passing oppps frigging flying by but that 2 months has gone down the pipe, from the daily commutes to work via car or train or wedding to organize and death to mourn over, sure there were good times and bad time but here we are in march.

There so much I did not blog so much I want to blog being in facebook also has drawn some time away for me.

The office is getting hectic aside from clearing cobwebs we picked up another office lot at Rohas Perkasa in which I am going to have to dedicate more time to it to have it fully fledged operational.

M thankful for a lot of things, I still grief over somethings, I miss some of my old friends, I miss some of my Internet frens, I find it hard to make time but that's what life is all about.

When ever my chin goes down, or I am frustrated with family, politics, office work, I think of many phrases, words songs to lift me

"I was sad I had no shoes till I met a man with no feet?

And Vadai will dance... just need to tie those damm laces

Anak - Power J Xroad Dec 2007

flashback to a January Dinner they hosted and invited me

Marketing in Penang plus Lunch

If there was ever a keyword to associate with Penang My aunt will always say kugan its Food, and food indeed, its a food orgy a food galore

Walking thru the market with Mama was an eye opener, basically no different from Port Klang in the stall concept but worth its weight in pictures

For the record whats you see in this plate is actually Prawn mee and being the only indian in that market buying roasted port of sitting down eating "Prawn mee" was a kicker

Well I was shooed out of the kitchen and in went in the Mama and came out with delicious food after committing 1st degree murder on the crabs hahaha.

Trust me I could not finish it but fabulous

Birthdays in PNG

I discovered many things in PNG, new bartenders that after 5 months of training, how to give peanuts for tips, met Alex the only Serbian in Malaysia, a new place to relax called "Be At Nienty Two" code name "B@92" and of course a food galore.

Firstly B@92 was a nice cost place playing jazz and simple old china shop concept, the scooter at the entered was a dead give away. It is ther eI was coached and learned bout Belated birthdays, Earliness - Earlieth lol birthday and Birthdays, the cusine was superb, we makan makan, I also learn why you add a lemon/lime on to a Corona

• The lime was used to keep out flies/dust in Mexico in times gone by

• Early bottles of Mexican beer were sealed with non-lined caps and the lime was used to wipe away the rust

Eventually We left the place to check out a nother joint named the royal, a regular hanging out place for Amanda, its alright and they have a unique concept coz at 11pm supper is free in the bar it self so you dont have to go out and makan accorting to the asst F&B manager.

I also manage to get a bottle of Swing and Green on a good price.

Then there was the food galore there was mango, there was coffee something and two little piggies for the little kiddo that only likes to eat the eyes, ears and note of the little piggie hahaha
before I got on a nightmarish bus journey which because of a burnt crane a mere 10km stretch took 3 hours to pass. Up and above that frigging PLUS hotline went unanswered oh gosh I was in fury lol
