Lunch at Chakri Palace

After certifying the office I was down to meet an old fren for lunch, nice lunch, a meeting I felt I needed to have and learn more bout the closed chapter and people moving on with their lives.

There was no longer any animosity or anger or hatred but resigned to let people fly away and carry on with their own lives.

Lunch was entertaining so was a quick peak at galleries pertonas. Oh by the way I dare

The birthday girl in August gave birth to a lovely baby boy. Awesome.

Congrats

KL International Tatto

In conjunction with 50 years of independence and Visit Malaysia Year 2007 the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism will co-host the KL International Tattoo Show. This tattoo will be an evening performance of military band music and cultural acts from across the world. The event will be held at the Merdeka Stadium, the birth place of our nation's independence.

What we get is free fireworks

A Journey for a fren

Someone got a new transformer phone hahahaah

Anyway the Journey for a test was exciting as well as getting Japanese chocolates (thank you, I has to taste test it my self) for Jnr Vadai.

Unfortunately I did not get a lucky-charm-avoiding-accident thingy unlike the 3 sisters (lots of nasty ribbing on that one) neither did I get vadai-gets-lucky-charm. Anyhow a nice lunch, a lovely discourse by evening I was back to my project work.

One note, fella driving manual was to drive like auto, fella driving auto want to drive like manual

Reflections on My Father's Life

Reflections on My Father's Life
1999-09-02
As the generations of leaves,
so the generations of men.
Down to earth the wind shoots the leaves,
but forest trees burst forth again
in the hour when spring is born:
so one generation of men
dies off while another grows strong.
The Iliad, VI.146-149

As the generations of leaves,
so the generations of men.
Yet what's the value of one leaf?
Can it be just to grow the stem?
I think not, but I'm not sure why:
for if I say, as I am wont,
that meaning's made whenever I
create some value in the world,
then it would seem the worth of one
is only in its strength to serve,
to build the beam and build the bough
so others yet may bud and grow
and, having built, may fall to earth
when winter of their time has come.
But so to speak ignores the joy
and pride that comes from bringing new
and unique value to the world
or keeping whole what's come before,
for sake of others and oneself;
for there's no conflict here: we each
pursue an interest in the good
through single acts that are yet whole
and so produce without intent
a world that's better for us all.
Thus my father lived: he healed men
who fought in war then fought again
to gain their health; he sought to save
the land he loved and to preserve
a life long lost through buildings that
the farmers made before our time
(he tried to keep their virtues, too:
straight honesty with all he knew);
he kept his wife till death did part
and raised four children, all with love
and joy in that most awesome task.
And all I ask is that he gain
some small amount of honor from
the ones he left behind. A leaf
has fallen from the tree: he lived
with pride, he lived with joy, and we
are better for his having lived.

The Mystery of Anonymous Comment

Has anyone got a theory for why so many visitors to blogs feel the urge to tell you all the ways in which you are wrong, dumb, suck etc, but don't feel enough conviction to have their name associated with their opinions?

It seems strange to me that someone would want to give another the benefit of their wisdom but not take credit for it. If I was the creator of such enlightened and pithy commentary as "you suck, leave the 'sphere asswad" I am sure I would not only want full credit but to have it registered in case of plagiarism.

Of course not all comments are as intelligently crafted as that example. Some even are posted in quite agreeable language with only a minimum of cussing. Even so many people do not want to use their own names. It's almost like they want you to know how they feel but do not really care for your reply.

I can understand someone posting anonymously if there is a chance their comments could get them into some sort of trouble, but otherwise ...

I switch off the option for these comments in my blog for a while coz it was getting irritation, so here is a challenge as I will open it up again and so long as they have the courage to put in their name or not cuss and degrade the person or use other peoples blog and comment on them.

Lets see how it goes

Helping out a fren

Time like these are different then yesteryears. People change (like me), people evolve (like me) ahahah.

I give you 2 scenerios.

Last night a fren from Ipoh came down and was available for sushi at frigging 7pm, along with other chatters. I decline to go. Instead I went for a beer.
Whats the rational? Well for the past 2 days I been slogging and whooping ass to get the project office up and kicking as we were behind schedule due to the carpeting idiot. Yesterday evening I saw a silver lining and things were finally coming together. Dead tired, mentally exhausted, I opted to go for a beer and ease my mind then to join a gathering for sushi. I sent my apologies and invited them to join me for a beer but they had other plans in puchong.

The other scenario, in a couple of hours I shall step away from the project to help a fren for 4 hours ok make them 5 hours before returning to the work. Its nothing beneficial to me but I had already committed, thought the initial date was Sept 14th then revised to Sept 7 morning and not reschedule to 3pm today. I dun make a million bucks out of it , I dun laugh heartily and take my mind off it but to help a fren.

I could not apply the same set of laws to both scenarios as they have underlines different reason of values to it. To the 1st batch of frens was about winding down and my choice was somethings else, the 2nd was a task that I had committed to , so I try to live up to that commitment, at worst if I could not really get away from the office today this fren would have understood.

T-Minus 2 days (semalam)

This was supposed to be last night posting. Baru dapat buat!!

Despite hiccups, hurdels, idiots who dun know hot to read a floor plan and people who dun come on time and bitch a lot and you slam a pie in their face....it been brought under control.

The new site was packed up to last night with the Aircond, Furniture, Data and PABX cabeling ppl all being ass whoooped to do their job. Regular time interval inspection kept them in check. Some were professional some were bullshit.

So here is where we are ...............

The drums on this songs rocks

In recent years, the song has become associated with the Vietnam War due to its use in the ending credits of Full Metal Jacket and the opening credits of Tour of Duty

While the Rolling Stones' song "Paint It Black" was not written about the Vietnam War, it has great meaning for many combat veterans from that war. The depression, the aura of premature death, loss of innocence, abandonment of all hope are perfectly expressed in the song. When you walk off the killing fields, still alive, physically intact, you want everything painted black, like your heart, your soul, you mind, your life.

Paint It Black - Rolling Stones

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and theyre all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens evry day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then Ill fade away and not have to face the facts
Its not easy facin up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the settin sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!

Footnote

Tour of Duty was an American television drama series on CBS which ran from September 1987 to April 1990. The show follows an American infantry platoon on a tour of duty during the Vietnam War.

Not simply an action program, Tour of Duty was also groundbreaking as it addressed the issues of racism, suicide, fragging, terrorism, civilian deaths, drug abuse, and the shattered lives and confused feelings of those troops who finally made it home alive. The story focuses mainly on Bravo company's third squad under the command of Lt. Myron Goldman (Stephen Caffery), and SSGT. Zeke Anderson (Terence Knox).

In Meorium

Luciano Pavarotti, one of the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71

Pavarotti had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and underwent further treatment in August. "The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life.

Instantly recognizable from his charcoal black beard and tuxedo-busting girth, Pavarotti radiated an intangible magic that helped him win hearts in a way Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras - his partners in the "Three Tenors" concerts - never quite could.

World Cup Rugby 2007

I am gonna be spending a lot of time on the telly watching this.

Only 4 years ago that Jonny Wilkinson was winning the World Cup for England, the English Rose and today they defend it.

The Team to beat which is my team is the All Black of course with the fearsome Haka.

The Kiwi start if off with the Italians. NTV7 gonna show19 matches live

Recce to New Rum Jungle

I actually have read a lot of good things bout the location, having nothign to do on a Sat I went to watch the Kop's game there and a fren asked me to check it out and feed back to him. The layout is same as Beach minus the GRO (thank god for that), I aint the clubbing kind much anyway the DJ spun some god music, I downed the beer and watched Kops slam 6 goals past Derby.

I hanged around 40 minuted appraising the band after that before leaving. Nice cleaner place, it got an upper floor

Merdeka Fireworks?

As silly or stupid as it sounds we celebrate with dance and light and music and fireworks on the eve not on the night it self.

This year ppl crammed to KLCC and other places to watch the fireworks but none came about. ONLY at merdeka night so me and my housemate were watching the Ambang merdeka on telly then it showed fireworks so we ran to the balcony and snapped a few shorts

A damm good weekend

It is an indeed rare event and hope it dun become more rare.

Kop scored 10 goals in 2 matches. No some puny low division team but with CL qualified and Derby the other.

Kop has never been known for their scoring prowess. I lost track of the weekend when the CL draw was done, I missed it as I was busy with the office but when I saw it at a pub ( next blog coming up) I though it was live till Scuddie brought me down to earth.

So at this weekend at even number of games Kop top the table of the EPL for the 1st time since 1999 and they scored 10 goals in 2 games a sixer in the last game and the CL draw is done.

A good weekend

CL Groups
(comments by the writers)
Group A: Liverpool, Porto, Marseille, Besiktas- Porto's a strong team but Liverpool gets an easy draw here.

Group B: Chelsea, Valencia, Schalke, Rosenborg- Tough group, though Schalke isn't as strong as last season.

Group C: Real Madrid, Werder Bremen, Lazio, Olympiakos- Former Santos teammates Robinho and Diego square off.

Group D: AC Milan, Benfica, Celtic, Shaktar Donetsk. Interesting mix of clubs in a group that includes Nery Castillo and Freddy Adu. Defending champion Milan should cruise.

Group E: Barcelona, Stuttgart, Lyon, Rangers. Group of Death. No question, although all three powers are off to slow league starts. Also, three of four teams boast CONCACAF players.

Group F: Manchester United, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Dynamo Kiev. You think Roma remembers that embarrassing drubbing at the hands of Man U last season?

Group G: Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce. After clashing with AC Milan so many times, PSV now faces the blue side of Milan. Roberto Carlos also joins the party with his new club.

Group H: Arsenal, Sevilla/AEK Athens, Steau Bucharest, Slavia Prague. Sevilla should advance, setting up a tasty match-up between them and Arsenal

Great Song

A remarkable song I head in a pub over the weekend as i was watering down, Its a place called backyard. The writer of this song was only 16 when he wrote this. Even at 16, this song is so simple.....yet so profound. he knows he has done bad things in his life, and he is getting it back in the ass.

He regrets the things he did, and didnt get a chance to do. but the best part of the song is right at the end, "Don't confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them." He knows what he did wrong, so he doesnt need to be told

Jackson Browne - These Day

Well I've been out walking,
I don't do that much talking
These days, These days.

These days I seem to think a lot
about the things that I forgot to do,
for you.
And all the times I had the chance to.

And I had a lover,
but it's so hard to risk another,
These days, these days.

Now if I seem to be afraid
to live the life that I have made in song.
Well it's just that I've been losing for so long.

Well I'll keep on moving (moving on)
Things are bound to be improving
These days, One of these days.

These days I'll sit on cornerstones
and count the time in quarter tones to ten,
my friend.
Don't confront me with my failures,
I have not forgotten them.
