Crimson Tide

Well I finally got my hands on one of the best underwater war movies, in recent time (The Hunt for the Red October also come to mind) This edition is a Dvd edition with directors comments, behind the scenes and etc etc Boooya!!!!!

This is a 11 year old movie but a superb sound track by Hanz Zimmer haunting and poetic and dramatic takes you to the edge of your seat.







Even the cast it self from, 11 years ago each a superb actors on its own, maybe you will recognize the names

The movie is comparable to "Hunt For Red October". Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman show a damm good performance and the movie also shows in a quite realistic way what can happen if the leading officers of a submarine have a very different sight of the situation and of how to react properly. What I also like is the fact that the different judgement on the situation is also somehow explained by the background of the two characters.

A kind of topsy turvy weekend where there was fun, good food, dancing movies and gunshots

Firstly, Xxxie's mom makes a wicked dinner, too bad many had other plans or canceled. I was supposed to go with Com and he msg me he cant make it, Kalai that was supposed to meet us there was stuck in Batu Caves, Grandma had her own story anyway its been 2 years and after lots of heavy hinting finally Dinner took place. I actually had an appointment at Luna Bar with a fren but she was kind enough to make some exception. We had glorious food (pics to come later) so it was Xxxiee and her relatives then me, Basil, Azie Any and Lacy we had a whale of a time till about 11.

Headed off for a quick change then to Luna Bar and later on to Waikiki. In Waikiki, got a buzz my cousin was semi-involved in a robbery in Subang Parade earlier that night. He was at the police station. We left Waikiki by then it was already 3am and headed to the police station just to check on him. Everything was a-ok

Too late to head back, I crashed out and went for Laksa breakfast in Sunday mmm yummy (pics to come) and came back for lunch.

Over all it was a lovely weekend and unforgettable food, drink , gunshots victims and laksa and all in between that lol

Finding a housemate

Chain-smoking drummer with severe insomnia seeks housemate for cosy two-bed terrace. Must be able to tolerate dramatic mood swings, all-night parties and obnoxious friends.

I believe it is much more difficult for guys to get good housemates as opposed to women coz we are choosy also.

After today morning's blast of with 3 people who have nothing to do with another on 3 different issues I am treating my self to a glass of milk.


1st person - needed to put this one in its place, been taking issues for granted for far too long and expecting too much. Maybe I am too nice but I been drawing lines and it come to a head today. One way or another no longer gonna turn the other cheek, do what you have to do. I stood alone before.

2nd person - if you want someone to do you something make sure you reciprocate, we aint punching bags that you can use and then walk away. We are human to, so when things come to a crunch and we aint around dun cry coz sometimes you have to stand on your feet. Thats one thing about nice guys, we give in too much, be it at work, or ended relationships, we make exceptions. Maybe someone should slap us silly but the one thing about nice guys, then the sword is drawn... then bye bye

3rd person - nothing and no one comes in between me and jnr vadai , absolutely no one. This person unfortunately after telling nicely so many times, advising so many times gotthe brunt of my viciousness the hard way. Pity, only if people listen then this idiot would not have been in that position.

Well now you know why I need a glass of milk.

Reality versus Fantasy - Watch the rattle

We all got skeleton in our cupboards, some scary, some wierd, some out of this world add that to the various kind of fetishes that in this day and age one can have, it creates a whole new perspective. Scary? No.

It does not change the person you are, the way you conduct your life. You are what you are. It becomes dangerous, when a sequences of event, bits of information, aligning the stars so to speak when people who have no clue who you are but then bombard you with their thoughts.

Enough is enough, being nice to people like this does not help no mater how much they stretch you. I chucked my HP into the back when phone calls and sms started irritating me during Thaipusam (having the lack of credit helped along the way)

All I can say is this, he will let you push him again and again, you can torment him with the past and the present, and your so called interpretation of his life but if your human enough sit back and think why time and time again he allows you to do that. He will one day lash back and the repercussions will be far more greater then you can ever imagine

Thaipusam - Preliminaries

One thing I got to admit - preparing and serving food for 10,000 people in Klang versus 70K in Batu Caves is a world of a difference.

When I used to live in Klang, we used to go every eve of Thaipusam to our temple and prepare food, since I left Klang hardly done that. So when Commie ask if I am free during Thaipusam to join a group of people who been doing this consistently for over 13 to 14 years, I said what the heck.

Woke up on a Thursday, got prepared and went over there, my 10 hours service (to wash away my sins according to Commie) was both pleasurable and worth it, but boy oh boy muscles ache and they really ache.

Badminton

In one of my toughest rust shaking body aching almost drop dead session, I would have punched the air if I could, playing doubles clinching the winning point then going one on one with Jen (what the fuck was I thinking) was well worth the pain.

1 on 1 with Jen was both wanting to drive my self and the lack of people to play doubles... this time I did not want to walk away without pushing my self. Final score 15-7. I was aiming for 5 points.... in future 10 points. Double was a killer me and my rakan muda racquet we awesome. In the end won $1

Adjourn for chicken rice... Jen was letting of some steam... its allright thats what frens are for.

The only thing that could sour the moment was an idiot smsing about contamination. Let me live my life my way.. either you accept or dun.

The human characteristics is amazing, especially when it comes fishing. Why? Well its the manner we ask question especially when we dun like the answers. So we throw some one liners a few question here to seek and answer. When we dun like the answers we get we explode.

Does it make sense? Why go thru the roller coaster of emotions? If it aint your business to ask the question? Why ask? If you are not entitled to know the answers why ask? And if you know you not gonna like the answer then why ask?

After picking up Jnr Vadai at the handover point lol we headed to the Pudu market. We came across a huge fish. So huge, it scared the shit out of Jnr. Glorious Bak Kut Teh

Subbie would probably love this...

I been living in KL now for a while always scouting for a nice place to makan...so when I was out with my kaki and the family.. the comedy was the wifey knew where the shop was but not how to get there. Blur max.... wat the heck all for the sake of good food... what else but Bak kut teh, yummy!!!!


Now this is a dish of pork bone soup commonly found like almost every where but good ones are hard I repeat HARD to find.... I could eat it almost any time of the day, but usually la its early in the morning or very late at night after a big session. You can makan with rice, i-chak-kueh

Most of he place I go to the BKT watery, like not rich and bones and dump a load of vegetables lke I am ordering a vegetarian dish

Me and My beer

Nothing like sitting in a bar alone, juz you and ur music. where everyone knows ur name.. it can be a drink you have on ur own or with a group of people. Just like wine... beer too has its requisits not just open mouth and swallow. As beers of different styles have distinctive characteristics, the appropriate glasses for each style will be the ones that accentuate those characteristics. As a rule, the more distinctive the beer, the more distinctive the glass should be.


So here is the list of beer glasses....and the purpose



Flute
Tall, thin, footed with a short stem, often gold-rimmed. These glasses are delicate, and show off a beer’s lean, sparkling body. This makes them inappropriate for heavy, murky beers, but perfect for light, sparkling beers such as fruit lambics and north German pilsners.

Lager glass
Short glasses, holding no more than 12 oz of beer. The are slightly wider at the mouth than at the foot, with gradual, evenly sloping sides. This unpretentious glass is a great basic drinking vessel, well-suited to pale lagers such as American standards, dortmunders, and helles. Lighter Vienna, American darks, cream ales and mainstream golden ales are also fine in this blue collar glass.

Kölsch/Altbier
Similar to the Lager glass, with straight-sided, and generally a little bit smaller. The Kölsch glass in particular has a revolver-type look when six of them are crowded onto a server’s tray. These are designed to be drained in a couple of gulps, which is a good way to drink an Alt or Kölsch once you’ve written your notes. Alt glasses are slightly shorter and fatter than the Kölsch glasses. Both allow for billowing heads to form, but are kind of lousy for developing aroma or discerning subtleties, which is a shame when you’re sitting in Im Füchschen trying to wrap your head around their glorious brew.

Shaker
The American microbrewer’s standard. A gently sloped 16 oz. glass made for session-type beers. Ambers, English & American pales, and sometimes darker session ales are typically served in these glasses, which are better known for their durability, than for any particularly beneficial properties. It is for that reason that some beer geeks have developed a hatred of the shaker.

English pint
These have a similar purpose to the shaker in that they are made for session ales, in this case bitters, milds, porters and stouts. There are a couple of key differences. First, they pour a proper pint (and usually have a line indicating where that is on the glass, just to make sure you don’t get ripped off). Second, they have a bit more flourish than the bland shaker. There are basically two variations. The first has a gentle curve covering the upper 2/3 of the glass - Guinness uses these. The second has a straight slope for the bottom two-thirds, and then a bump near the top, flattening out at the mouth of the glass.

Dimpled mug
A classic in North America, the dimpled mug is a large mug, with dimples, and a handle. It is convex, with the mouth larger than the base. The glass is thick, so bar owners love it. While the dimples make appreciating the appearance of the beer more difficult, the wide mouth releases the aroma just nicely. So while these mugs are most commonly used for raunchy lagers, I would recommend them more for aromatic brown ales (especially the hazy ones), bocks and other dark lagers.

Stein
By far the most ornate beer vessels are the Bavarian steins. These are usually ceramic, earthenware or stoneware, and are intricately decorated with scenes of nature, castles, and villages. They come in a variety of sizes, usually 1/2L, 1L, or 2L - the preferred portions of Bavarian drinkers. While steins do nothing for the appearance of the beer, there is little question that these beautiful pieces of folk art (even if they are made in a factory, they’re still pretty nice) are visually appealing unto themselves. The aromatic aspect is admittedly not as strong from these materials as from glass, but the taste is unencumbered. Thankfully, some steins have lids, which you can use to trap aromas in so that when you open the lid you get a big shot of malt (or smoke, if you are drinking rauchbier). The added bonus of the lid is that you keep blackflies and mosquitoes out of your Molson if you’re camping, and the cigarette smoke out if you’re in a low-ceilinged cellar bar in Germany. Use for any traditional German lager style.

Footed Pilsner
A small, almost straight-sided glass sits on an inch-long stem and foot. The basest form of this glass is actually kind of dull, but thankfully brewers like Christoffel have added tulipesque accents to liven things up. The basic footed pilsner has a slightly bulbous bottom and narrower mouth, which makes it better for drinking than for smelling, and places the most emphasis on the appearance. It has a bit more style than some other glasses, so it is best used for pilsners, and decent cream or golden ales than for the lowliest lagers.



Tulip
The most varied glass in the world of beer. This style of glass has been around a while but only recently has found in a home in the eyes of beer-lovers the world over. It is the ultimate beer-tasting utility glass. The bulbous bottom makes for great drinking, the flared mouth allows for wonderful head formation and aroma release, and while it is short enough to handle the biggest beer styles, it is tall enough to service IPAs and other complex session beers. The Duvel glass is a well-known variant of the tulip style, and the Ratebeer tasting glass is an almost perfect example.

Thistle
A somewhat obscure glass, used by the Belgians for scotch ales. It is a footed glass, with a short stem. The glass starts very bulbous, as though it were a snifter, but then the upper half has straight sides that angle outwards. The mouth is basically the same radius at the bulb at the bottom. While it has a funky look to it, I’m not really sure what benefits it brings to the table otherwise - the funny shape I think would make drinking almost awkward, while the mouth is not wide enough to provide ample aroma.

Yard of Ale
In some ways, this is merely an elongated version of the thimble. True, is has no foot nor stem, but is consists of a bulb followed by a long, thin, outwardly sloping section, which in this case flattens out at the end. Originally, these were passed to stagecoach drivers so that they could stop for a drink without giving up the reigns (thus, the world’s first drive-through was an inn somewhere in Industrial Revolution England). Because the bottom is both bulbous and stemless, it will not stand on its own, and requires a wooden stand. The best-known branded example if Pauwel Kwak.

Weizen
The classic German wheat beer glass is tall, narrow and flared at the top. This design accentuates both the hazy appearance of a classic hefeweizen, but also allows for abundant head formation. They typically hold 1/2L of beer. The one drawback to these glasses is that with so much glass exposed to the atmosphere, the beer warms more quickly than one might like on a hot summer’s day.

Tumbler
Best known as "the Hoegaarden glass", tumblers are session glasses with a very gentle straight slope, though the Hoegaarden glass itself has a wider bowl at the top of the glass. These graceless glasses are used for witbiers to highlight the hard-working farm origins of the style. To the amazement of North Americans, they are also used in Belgium for gueuze. We should all be so lucky as to have gueuze and lambic as local, working class session brews!


Bowl
Used for berliner weissebier, the bowl is a low-slung, wide glass that you could very much each muesli and yoghurt out of. This glass is all style, but works well with the berliner weisse when that style is adulterated by the woodruff or raspberry syrup. Then it is practically an alcopop, and such an absurb drinking vessel makes sense. Jackson’s Ultimate Beer book shows the berliner weissebiers in a stemmed version of the bowl (almost a bolleke, which is really a cross between a bowl and a Trappist glass), and the additional elegance of the stem seems to fit well a berliner weisse taken neat.

Trappist glass
Bowl glasses with feet and long stems, Trappist glasses work well with the complex abbey ales they are designed for. First, they have very wide mouths, which allows the copious foam to develop without getting too thick for proper drinking. These wide mouths allow the complex aromas of abbey ales to fully realize. The deep bowl shows off the liquid well, and makes even the murkiest Rochefort look damn fine.

Stem glasses
Surprisingly common, yet unknown style. These are typically shorter, smaller with stems and the glass portion is slightly off-straight in its trajectory. They usually have some convexity, but not much. Occasionally, they are dead straight, with rounded bottoms to form basically a square. Celebrator and Harvey Porter use these types of glasses.

Snifter
Whether a pure brandy snifter or a variant, these are used most commonly for barley wines, eisbocks and imperial stouts. They are stemmed and footed, bulbous at the bottom and narrowing all the way to the top. Because barley wines often have little head formation, the narrow mouth is fine as far as that goes, but still inhibits aroma a little bit, the tradeoff being the appearance of elegance. Many snifter variants made for beers have wider-than-average mouths for this reason.

Retrospect : Vadai

I am going out on a limb in this blog but this is personal, in life there are chains that bind us, sometimes because we have to, sometimes because we can, sometimes there is no other alternative. As we progress in life day after our legacy and our shame, our pride and our joy, our pain and our anguish.

I have gone thru life at work, with friends, with family and relationships some successful some failed some crashed and burn, some tore me apart, and some that I hurt (true), but I realise that life does go on. There is always tomorrow with or without the people in you life.


It is what you do when you have to do, without people knowing is what makes you. One does not need to advertise to the world when he does but only to himself, even to those who are close to him. I use to be very open at one stage in my life thinking that was the way to go but it does not work in every environment. True there may be situations being open is warranted but in the end if is the choice of the individual not the the people around him.

This month I watched 3 people I looked up to celebrate milestones in their life, I listen to accolades spoken of them, their pain and their tears. I look at mine and say I done good. I could be worse but I am contended where I am now. I look back at what I have done for my family and extended family, my friends and my extended friends, I feel I am on top. Heck I am no angel either. I am what I am.

As they say what that does not break us only makes us stronger.

Few things are certain, I be where I am so long as I want to be there. Not because of the people who surround me or the people who drove me here. If I need to move, I will, an action I have remonstrated in recent time. I have look at option of moving in with a buddy of mine also... I cross that bridge when I come to it. I wont get married again that chapter is closed. Will I see other non exclusively? Yeah! My philosophy is life is meant to be lived. I will like apples and oranges and banana and papaya and durian but there is a time for everything.

In the end, the thing that matter to me will always be Jnr Vadai. I will live my life the way it should be lived, and no fren, family or stranger is gonna sit me down and try to have an awakening with me (lol). Wont work lol

Fustal - what can I say. I scored Booooya!!!! Jen Scored booya!! Let me gloat a while.. a beauty of a goal in my own half close to my circle on the left.... building the game (still gloating) score 1-1.. see Jen at the far right torn between floating a chip for the panjang to head in or the corner pocket... in all honesty (fuck yes I am honest in my blog) I floated it in and when i raised my head to look at Jen at the ball it sail so so so so so (mega gloating) smooth, the keeper beaten (mega) into the top corner to seal the win. My fist in the air (huuuurah)

We had a fucking awesome session (pity I had to run away at 9pm), 2 old dogs (me and Jen) one Man U freak, a kido wet behind the eats and a freaking mad left back who in all honesty was an awesome keeper (sorry Jen)

We put the better playing team to shame, considering the line up, we stayed longer on that court then anyone else, defending with HEART (Kop) and scoring off one touch passes and flashes of brilliance

- Was at work on Sunday preparing ground work for a role I am to undertake
- Most precious of all, Jnr Vadai was with me


The coming week will be a stiff week, management meeting, getting in shape, finding motivation and direction.

Nice versus Nasty

Sometimes is nice being direct, crude and to the point coz being polite does not work. It happens at home, work with friends and people you have relationships with.

When with guys, its different, you could screw them, fuck them and then get on back to the environment your in, (this is not a ladies bashing session) but honestly with members of the opposite sex aint as simple as that, words used, texture, language need to be carefully structured. Becoming an 'Uncle'

The best news I had with a little caution was I was going to be an 'Uncle'. A bit premature but hey a new baby in town. I got the call at 1am. hmmm there goes the weekend plans.

You should be the first to teach the child to swear, give the child it's first cigarette, and if it's a girl, beat up it's first boyfriend for fucking around with her. Remember, don't discipline the child, that's what parents are for. Mentally Tired

My mind is tired from the battles of work, family and some friends... I am becoming stronger at work but my mind is a buzz by the time I reach the end of the day, I feel like a ton of bricks...have not had time for exercise or socializing. When someone gives their word it stood for everything (in the movie Jerry got screwed la), in retrospect today promises are less in value. We just make them out of necessity, convenience, possibility, satisfaction, or for the sake la.

Some promises are binding. I got 4 to my mom that I would keep. Not coz I am forced to but have to, I was asked to. I gave them my word. I keep my word especially to them. Too bad we can share all our promises and we lead out lives directly and indirectly because of that. At time when people are bearing down on you, you wish you could tell the whole world the promise you made, but Promises are private. Never to be shared.

Being Concern

By definition this word has so many meaning and its application, the weight of this had its benefits and equally its repercussions. Concern is an extension or by product of caring. Many construe it many ways but the things that matters most is how the person in receipt reacts to this. Why? Because in the end he is the subject.

An instance, I received an sms from a 3rd party that a distant fren (last time close fren), was having lower tummy pains. Further to the fact she was pregnant and have not kept in touch for sometime and we kind of grown apart and yada, yada, yada its not a crime to express concern.

A few well placed sms to enquire of the health, condition resulted in the knowledge of her being admitted, prep for surgery in the evening for acute appendicitis. All I said keep me in the loop and hope the mum and the baby is well.

So for the past few days I've been thinking, what separate them? I've only come to one conclusion, there is no easy way to define the difference between a "good mom" and "great mom." Every woman is different. Each has her own set of inherited parenting skills, abilities and talents which enables her to be as good as parent as she can be.

I have always advocated the fact most parents strive to raise their children better than their parents raised them. In because of natural evolution in our culture and environment, parenting can always be improved upon. That will never change, so it seems senseless to strive for perfection - it simply can't be achieved.

While have a drink at a local joint with a person I have began to interact with a lot in recent time, topics on sports, sex, relationship and inevitably a topic the point of no return.

Thru our lives both as an individual and as a collective we are often faced with this barrier. Why do I call it a barrier? Coz once you step thru it, thing will never be the same. It was not Chelsea at its best neither were they at their worst. I wont rant on Chelsea but on my KOPs, after humiliating defeats at Gunner's hands at Cup matches backs to the wall. They should why I am still proud of them they had COURAGE. Worst defeat in decades, poor display of the team in 2 cup matches spelled doom. Heck the score could have been 5-0. Before the start of the match I could not have predicted 2-0 scoreline. Why? I am realistic.

Looking at the line up, Chec was back. Essien was in center back and the Blues plays 4-3-3 wiht Kalou and Robber and deadly Dogbra. Hypia was out, Agger was in the center. Riise was left midfield.. Bellamy was on the bench.

Each religion, each teaching and each way of life have many things in common and then they branch out in their uniqueness. No different then each of us with a thumbprint on this world that we live in. As times goes by we evolve, we learn, we experience a lot. These are teaching that we apply to our daily lives. I used to read in amusement the usual advise columns that dish them out usually found in weekend column. Why? Seem to have a practical solution for almost (not all) situation.In reality its not possible. You cant consciously know the exact environment, the character of the person, the situation they are in, the ramifications and most importantly their mindset and especially when you don't know the person.

Do not offer advise when people dun ask. Makes you look stupid then minute you advise is not required dont be a hero coz that will make you unwanted. If you still presist, might as well dig your own grace.

Last Night Part 3 - Now this is a dinner

Finally being rewarded. I repeat rewarded!!! Straight from KLCC me and a fren jump into her car and landed at Deutsches Haus, 46 Changkat Bukit Bintang, KL.

I have heard of this place and the pork knuckle was the best and even better FREE!!! WE just pay for the drinks. Sometime is nice to have a good boss. Sometimes only

Why is it the best?

Last night Part 2 - The Dinner

The small dinner was in deed small, portion served for a high class place like this was like so small. I would go hungry into the night. I give 10/10 for presentation of food but 3/10 for serving size.

Last night part 1

A week ago I was supposed to be away for a get away and directly and indirectly of missing that resulted in what transpired 6 days later. A successful signing ceremony and an agency secured and a lovely dinner later.

It had all the setting of being majestic held at the Malaysian Petroleum Club in KLCC (42nd floor) a lovely night and a snack later.


So we have another agency and the ceremony though a formality was a success.

To down in sorrow

To literally do that is somewhat a joy for the moment and a nightmare on the next day. I pick 2 quotes

I dun shy form it nor do it be afraid of having those moments, its what makes us human.

Its Done

As by lunch today the rites were done and I was back to work. Personally it was a hard night for me but you got to do what you got to do.

I been apart or visited many funral homes each wiht a different way of celebrating/mourning the passing. Each has its own characteristics.

He lived 30 years on this land, did his right and wrongs but to only judge him by his wrongs and not his right is brutal but thats the way society is. Grief is a funny thing each has a different style or expressing and controlling.

Alas he is laid to rest, a job well done and condolences to the family.

Usually when an event like this - death- happen to someone close or related you start to ponder, evaluate, question of how prepared you are for death. At an unplanned eulogy the speaker said why be afraid of death taking a passage from a book. I tracked it down. Lovely

Organizing a Funeral

I feel numb. Mind was racign been on the phones all day. I stand better organized from my office then being in the hospital.

I was called in to help with the arrangement,I have done 7 funerals and 4 weddings - 3 of them 1st hand to know whats are the ares to be covered. 6 of us coordinating the funeral. The critical aspect of funerals in the following particular order

- Inform all and let the networks expand.
- Determine any overseas relatives they want to to be present, in this case yes. Confirm flight arrivals and extimates
- Book the priest and set the Funeral time
- Meanwhile get the Death Cert, get the burial/cremation permit and book the location.
Now you have the funeral time, location, priest, announcement and burial place all done


Next stage will be setting up the house.
- Get the tent, tanles cloth and all necessary
- Cover all the deity pics and rearrange the hall
- Get the bathign area ready.
- Get the list to purchase the thing and send someone to get them
- Get song books, trays banana leafs flowers etc etc etc

After that go with the flow.

The weekend

Been a while I had a kind of a getaway weekend from a back to back movie session (Sinking of Japan & Night at Museum), dinner (awesome), then mamak got sup kambing, watching EPl as Man U beat Aston Villa and the next day a lazat mee kari was a nice get away for the weekend with me ditching my laptop. (more to come)

All in all the company for all this made it all worthwhile. God I am tired.

Later on had an after lunch session with Jnr Vadai and his chicken pox and a birthday at niht for an uncle who has a milestone.
