World Aids Day - me

Well a year has passed....In recent years, World AIDS Day, which is observed Dec. 1, has become more than a single day. Through the use of highly focused advocacy platforms, World AIDS Day has been transformed into World AIDS Campaign.

In 1981 the first cases of HIV/AIDS were reported by the CDC. It wasn't till 1984 that the virus was isolated and identified. Twenty four years later we are still far away from a cure. Tomorrow marks the 18th commemoration of World AIDS day.

The UN says "The scourge of HIV/AIDS has devastated the developing world, where approximately 95 percent of all those infected live. The disease has not only killed millions, it has both created and exacerbated poverty and hardship for families, communities and nations."

People with, or suspected of having, HIV may be turned away from health care services, denied housing and employment, shunned by their friends and colleagues, turned down for insurance coverage or refused entry into foreign countries. In some cases, they may be evicted from home by their families, divorced by their spouses, and suffer physical violence or even murder. Thats true

Some certainly don't think that AIDS/HIV warrants this much attention (at the expense of other deadly diseases that one is much more likely to contract), ....If we do not address the issue of stigma and discrimination, then whatever efforts we do will fail, weather we like it or not we have to admit there is a lot of this around us.Are you personally affected by AIDS -- family, friend, co-worker, other?

I had a close fren who had AIDS... SHE SAID "Nobody wants to associate with you," she says of people who are HIV-positive. "Not your friends, not your family, nobody. They will think I came here and started misbehaving. Then they will make me an outcast."

Give a hug to a someone who is HIV+ or AIDS show then ur much better then the rest... I know I have..one day if I am not to careful I might be one of them...then will you hug me or be my fren??? Will you

i will hug u
i will share ur food & ur bed
i will love u & still make love to you

fear of AIDS is today what fear of cancer & leprosy was before. its mainly due to ignorance. ignorance is the root couse of all fears.

Ppl are not only ignore to how HIV is transmitted they are also ignore to how it is NOT transmitted.

While we focus on HIV we ignore Hepatitis which is transmitted same way and can be lethal as well.

In a cruel and imperfect world, we can be living proof that God could still create perfection in our hearts when we reach out to hug, to touch ones who are labeled 'untouchables'.
