Awards

So why do you give an award?

To recognize

well here is a low down view of it ...The reason to give awards is to recognize someone or some group of people for their outstanding achievement. You want the people to feel good about themselves as well as their performance. If you want to make the award even more important – make a big deal out of the presentation

So we had our awards and I earned my 'spurs' so to speak lol

Delicious

Begging your pardon but I love food

There is delicious and there is delicious

Parody

A parody (pronounced /ˈpærədiː/; also called send-up or spoof), in contemporary usage, is a work created to mock, comment on, or poke fun at an original work, its subject, or author, or some other target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation.

Well that the definition but many a times such a parody fall flat on the faces or pinches the nerve or goes out the window with serious consequences, but in this HARD UPTIGHT WORLD that we live in if we cant be able to poke ourselves and laugh then something is seriously wrong.

.........

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Forgetting Birthdays

Its not that one purposely forgets birthdays, especially loved one that a big NO NO but at times especially with friends more so with friends you hardly keep in touch to out of the blue sms you or call you and goes something like ... " You know you forgot my birthday" hahahaha I actually burst out laughing and the caller hung up.

I am truly not sure which is a bigger crime forgetting the birthday or having them call you to tell you that you forget!!

Go figure!!!

Selangor Hockey News

It nice from time to time to get some milage, not for political not for personal gain but in all sincerity to get the WORD out. I have more often then not lamented bout starting from scratch, no files to hand over and how hard it is starting from zero.

We have had a few speed bumps, frustrating long nights but above all we got the job done. We have a team that want to work, and as they say action speaks louder then words.

I have always had online support from my fellow hockey enthusiast and bloggers like

Hockey- Asia,
Voice-In-Sports &
Loose Cannon

Today we manage to score some good articles in the main stream press

Selangor want to play role in development of hockey

IT DOES NOT END HERE, you have to progress, set short term and long terms goals you have to show then you have a program and we do we have a Calendar!!!

2 down 1 to go

2 tournaments down 1 more to go.

Not bad for a team of 5 people to organize both the tournaments. Now for the next one

Frus (2)

Any good work you do,
any small step you take forward there are many
who are willing to undermine the whole organization for their own self interest

Where is the passion?
where is the commitment?

Some would say welcome to the sporting politics but unfortunately this is not it, in hockey this was a tragedy waiting to happen, apathy, lack of accountability & responsibility lead us pulling out from participating in a National age group Tournament

Heck only a week ago they were all together at the finals of one tournament smiling for glory, didnt any think to bring the subject up

I wish the key officials were there standing in front of the players explaining then in the eye why they cant go?

This is TAUFU

While the repercussion from this will be hard to swallow coz we are working so hard to get forward we still have to drive on. We must press forward from this

Oh then there is that jackass who is part of the team but send smses to everyone how we F!@#$ed up. Wierd aint it

SHA - Frustration

I have 2 hands and 2 legs, there is so much that I can do, it is indeed frustrating, very frustrating when people who are in charge of certain activities or tasks merely do it half-heartily or expect thing to happen.

Already my team and I are focusing in getting activities off the ground, trying to push forward, get some momentum going but this happens and it makes me wanna vent out in frustration!!

We are on the verge of pulling out of the tournament?
Why?
No planning?
No feedback?
No alarm bells?

All we got is "We cant rob a bank" - HELLO

Money does not fall from the SKY!!! Why never feedback?

Taking over & making improvements

One of the thing one should learn bout taking over it is not just taking charge but what you do with it. Something are within your means and some are not. For example the Information Committee of the state hockey association that can on its own take over a notice board and set KPI (see bottom left of the NOW pic) when it was last updated. The target is to updated every month at least. as opposed taking so long to get $$$ to get the web page up and running despite all the approvals and endorsement in place.

Well we do what we can and how we can

THEN

NOW

In the midst of all this - Junior comes 1st

In the midst of all these tournament going the last thing I would ever want to miss is my Juniors Sports day, its always fun and you should always be apart of the Junior's activities, that should come first

So his school sports was on Sat (in the midst fo Sukses) we had tremendous fun together and I was overjoyed watching him and his class mates do games and play like kids do. They had a march past and his team for the sport games got 3rd place.

One of the joys of inter house games is the gangs and cheating accusation and when they kiss and make up it worth watching. I wonder if adults can learn anything from this

Sukses - good bad and ugly

In more ways then one SUKSES was successful, Technically and Organization wise we were a success.

the good
On the field for the 1st time we had a champion from Gombak who beat Klang in the Finals. We had a good crowd there for the games and especially the finals. Now we have round 2 the Champion Schools

The ugly
The closing ceremony which the Majlis Sukan Daerah wanted to run was failure because the people who wanted to take charge of running it did not know what to do but too shy to ask. In the end a lot of red faced and a poor lady MC that was caught in the middle of all of it. On our part we did our best to help her thru and manage the situation. Its the least we could do

The bad
Key word used form time to time "Tiada peruntukan" no wories the show must go on. In the end as long you have a tournament without any hitch and team can play in a healthy environment what else do you need. No fund , we will go and find the funds. We must show if one door closes on us we must find other doors not sit down and wail.

For the record, despite the hiccups form the earlier reps in SHA and MSN, we have manage to step in and built a good rapport with MPK & MSN.

I has the distinct pleasure of sitting down with the top honcho of MSN and we actually had a great conversation in the words of Jerry Maguire: Help me... help you. Help me, help you.

Here we go

Today marks day 1 of the activities

Today at 7.45am was the 1st game for SUKSES and marks the beginning of what will hopefully be a good series of events to help (for the lack of a better word) revive hockey activities in Selangor.

Trust me when I say it was never easy reaching this stage., there was resistance to change and trying to change mindset. Even last night was a crucial meeting clear out bottle necks.

I am happy to say I have a team to work with coz none of this can be done alone.

Promotion of these activities are not easy, both on the web and bloggers like Voice-in-Sports& Malaysian Sports' Loose Cannon have been tremendous help and source of encouragement.

I am still trying to reach mainstream press but it never easy. Lets see how we do.

Today I also have to thank my fellow blogger (must call him 'annai') and Facebook buddy for writing up about our activities.

Thank bro.

The first step ..

The first step always the hardest, after a while we are trying to start something, if you are around come and support us in the hockey activities.

It was Peter A. Cohen who said - There is no one giant step that does it. It's a lot of little steps.

To do what you see below takes effort, takes behind the scenes work and lots of communication. I dun mean the effort take to design the flyer but the effort to take to organize there activities. For some it may be a walk in a park for some it be climbing Everest.

While I may harp time to time on the lack of activities in Selangor in the past and Annual reports that are peppered with so called activities, one only need to talk to the people on the ground to see what activities actualyl have taken place.

Having been apart of the sport of Hockey up to International Level both participating and organizing, trust me when I say it never easy at any level. Even more so when you have to build form scratch.

Well this is what we have manage to set up, now we wait for the response

Bob Marley - redemption song acustic - 30 year old song...

My favorite lines from this song are
"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds"
Bob wasn't just a gnarley stoner, he was a prophet.

Stadium Hoki Pandamaran

If we do not make small repairs and maintain infrastructure well.. this how we end up with things

This one of the last remaining, 'working', 'playable' turf on this side of Selangor. If you want another you got to go to Gombak.

We got to work together to make repairs, make improvements to the stadium or it will die a slow death like Stadium Hoki Petaling Jaya ( dont get me started on that)

Time for some Hockey Fun in Selangor

The next 2 tournaments in Selangor
