On New Year night, Poseidon, the luxurious cruise liner was hit by a majestic rogue wave flipping it upside down. With help several hours away most of the passengers decide to sit it out. However, Dylan Johns (Josh Lucas) decides to get off the already sinking ship, by climbing to the hull (now on top). He is joined by Maggie James (Jacinda Barrett) and her son Conor (Jimmy Bennett), Robert Ramsey (Kurt Russell), his daughter Jennifer (Emmy Rossum) and her boyfriend Christian (Mike Vogel), Elena Gonzalez (Mía Maestro) and Richard Nelson (Richard Dreyfuss). Will they all make it out before the ship sinks?

Its based on a remake of a 1976 movie I think. Nice effects though... Watched it with a fren and it worth it coz the sound system was superb... In the original POSEIDON ADVENTURE, the venerable SS Poseidon was on its last voyage, even before it had a wave of bad luck. Headed to port to be turned to scrap, the aging luxury liner was comfortably aged and loaded down with a bunch of amiable B-list movie stars playing rather endearingly ordinary people.

No Closure, people die, people get saved, helicopters show up and the curtain falls. Simply not good enough. NEXT!!!

Capati and good dinner companion

The joys of eating at home is always sought by me but not always possible. Today, I got lucky having a tough day at work being short staffed , the centralized aircont kaput, a fren decided to be a pain in the neck and of all things my boss decided to give Friday off? Go figure...anyway after the rag tag day headed back, needing a good fren to take mind off thing, grabbed Commie.


Commie is a nice fella except tha he is tall lol relatively I not so tall, a jovial face to have around to crack a joke or two. He will drop by my place for dinner where I will be able to kick back relax and have a guy to guy chat. Then maybe just go out for a drink (mood and budget permitting), maybe I can influence him to buy me a drink lol.

Anyway its time for dinner and time to take my mind off the day's events and tomorow is another day.

I love to cook

Fact : I am not a good cook and I experiment a lot...you could hear my frens ROTF... when I in all honesty turned the traditional ABC soup and decided to add my flavour to it. When I cook I pour my heart into it, I research left right center and thru to get the best product with the best effort. Afraid as I may be, most to the time I churn out good dishes. (Ask Angel)

I been going thru tough hurdles in almost every direction I turn in PK, finance, health(blood work is in already), work and trying to make ends meet and deadlines and a 4 days exhibition coming which Boss decided yours truly will spearhead the whole exhibition. Smiling to my boss but inside *!@$#%^%^^%%

So how to take a break, I cook la....When I said I wanted to cook over the weekend and I told Xxxie its a small group, she asked who is coming coz when I say small group it ends up bout 15-20 ppl. I laughed my heart out and said this time it gonna be below 10 including the house ppl.

So this weekend I called 6 frens to come to my house and I am gonna cook. Conditions, be prepared to get wet(hint), eat non-halal and sign a waiver. Hahahahahaha Beware as you step into Vadai's domain

Today I discovered that even my some of friends is affected by what I write here.... especially on a recent topic on frens. A non-commenter but an avid reader buzzed me apologising as the caller felt stung.

The callers felt the blog questions their commitment of friendship and it throws our friendship out of balance. My 2 cents is if you have nothing to fear of, and your comfortable where you are then you have nothing wories.

This blog to a certain extend represents who I am and how slowly I reveal more and more about me and my ongoings. This blog is my spot on the web. Where I found friends, even if they remain virtual. Because I cannot live under a rock. I need air to breathe, I need to hear songs and poetry, I need to hear other voices. In short sori la...this is me.... Below is a list of vital rules for girls wanting to share a home with a footie-mad fella this summer.

In an emotional plea, the men of the world have laid out the dos and don't-you-bloody-dares of tournament viewing which you can print out and stick by your telly.

These include vital pieces of etiquette from beer-in-fridge planning to schoolboy rules like when not to say 'it's just a game'.

And here we've picked the best - doing the rounds on the web as an open letter to the world's women - to ensure the nation's guys and girls make the perfect team this summer.

LIST OF RULES

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the The Sun's sport pages so you are aware of what's going on regarding the World Cup and will be able to join in conversations.
If you fail to do this, you'll be looked at in a bad way or be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup the television is mine at all times - without any exceptions.

3. I don't mind if you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game - as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me.
If you decide to stand naked in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I won't have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute - unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat.
You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it won't happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least two six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on.

And please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game" or "don't worry, they'll win next time".

If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break-up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during half-time but only when the adverts are on, and only if the score is pleasing me.

In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as
important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch?" The reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years".

I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.

VDRL - Asking the right Questions

VDRL
This screening test for syphilis measures reaginic antibody. Reaginic antibodies are produced in syphilis as a result of the interaction of the bacteria which causes syphilis (Treponema pallidum) and one's own body. This test is a useful screening tool for syphilis, yet its ability to detect syphilis depends on the stage of the disease.

In the earliest stage of syphilis (primary syphilis) this test is positive approximately 60% of the time. Its usefulness increases with later stages such as secondary syphilis and latent syphilis where it may be positive 70-90% of the time; yet in the final stages (tertiary syphilis) this test is usually positive in only 60% of cases.

There are several conditions which may cause a false positive test -- such as HIV, Lyme disease, mycoplasma pneumonia, malaria, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Therefore, this screening test if found to be positive must be confirmed by a more specific test for syphilis such as FTA-ABS.

How its done?
Blood is drawn from a vein (venipuncture), usually from the inside of the elbow or the back of the hand. The puncture site is cleaned with antiseptic, and a tourniquet (an elastic band) or blood pressure cuff is placed around the upper arm to apply pressure and restrict blood flow through the vein. This causes veins below the tourniquet to distend (fill with blood).

A needle is inserted into the vein, and the blood is collected in an airtight vial or a syringe. During the procedure, the tourniquet is removed to restore circulation. Once the blood has been collected, the needle is removed, and the puncture site is covered to stop any bleeding. Bingo!!!!


Why the test is performed:
Syphilis is a highly treatable infection. In addition to screening individuals with signs and symptoms of syphilis and/or other sexually transmitted diseases, syphilis screening is a routine part of prenatal care during pregnancy. Several states also require screening for syphilis prior to obtaining a marriage license.


For the terrified
Make sure your weakly reactive VDRL was confirmed positive. All positive VDRL tests require confirmation by a second test. If that was done and it was positive, then you have been infected with syphilis. The weak response in your test probably means you no longer have an active infection, i.e. your immune system has controlled it. It also suggests that you were infected a long time ago. But if you never were treated for syphilis, there is a small chance the infection will reactivate someday, perhaps with serious consequences.

Evaluting Friendship

The strongest of all warriors are these two — Time and Patience.

I took the time this weekend, being in Port Klang and all, spending time with Jnr Vadai. I like Port Klang despite the politics and the idiots who I have to call as relatives…Something triggered me to re-evaluate the way I interact with some of my friends. I know I know I have wrote a lot bout me and the way I interact with my friends and who I value friendship. This weekend a suppressed frustration came to light and it pissed me off over a couple of sms

I treat my friends equally, a phrase I use more often then not but as time goes by friendship evolves and we are all guilty of that some friends stay, some frens move on, some frens come close and some frens just stay at the outer mark. But they are friends. It would be safe to say through years of these kind of relationships, for each human being you have faced this. Some walk out the door and walk back in some walk away... we all move on.

Some friend are happy being at a different level some aren’t. Some friend keep you away coz they like you as the once-a-while-meet-and-laugh-friend some want you close as the -he/she-got-my-back-friend then you have the classic i-know-i-can-depend-on-him-fren. Along the bylines you have hometown-frens, lepak-kaki and eventually you have come to a realization each fren is at a different level. You can dictate that level or be submissive to that level coz that the way the cookie crumble.

So today I dictate (hehe) instead of being submissive, I am a fren and I will continue to treat you as a fren, but if I feel I dont like the direction out friendship is head, I tell it to your face, think what you want of me but I think I too have a right to decide. You too have the choice to decide what level of fren you would like me to be but do not expect me to dance to it after all life is short and I am gonna enjoy it. I dun want to be muddled into complications... your a fren simple as that and where ever level you and I feel comfortable we are at will be respect by both.

I always read back my blogs time to time, if I am wrong then I am wrong in opinion but not wrong in writing. I do not fear writing but embrace as it is my avenue to speak mymind

Futsal

It was indeed a stress relieving, sweat drenched, pushed to the limit workout at the futsal last night. It already started to be a routine that every Monday its futsal. My health and BP being where it is I been not pushing my self in such session, made up my mind to push my self and I did till the very end. Running up and down, moving the ball in the end scoring a few goals.

Ironically the regulars who went ra-ra-ra and were keen on it were dropping like flies and instead of we establishing the group, we were slowly absorbed into a group, now I do not bother to inform the rest if they want to come let them come, the need to depend on them no longer exist. When we depended on them they fail to deliver.

Magic moments
a) on the half line a high ball coming to me trapped on my right pulled back to avoid 1 defender then rush to goal side step one defender sending the ball thru his legs (my dying already) lunge in to shoot at the oncoming keeper (who else but my good buddy jen) who blocks well of what would have been a wonderful goal

b) Late in the game trailing by one goal.. I am deep in my corner keeper plays the ball out to me.. most of my guys are up..the Chinese speedy gonzales comes after my I get caught..I use the net then fight back to the get the ball..then launch a more..picking up pace...fake a move with speedy I break free running with the ball I see 2 options to my left and right .. I open up the pace... plays a 1-2 screaming for the ball back then coming into the circle 1 defender coming into block I coolly fake a right to the keeper and slide the ball into the left...yeeehaw

The Power of Saying 'No'

I always thought learning how to say "no" would be one of those difficult life lessons that takes a lot of time and effort and failure before you finally master it. It turns out when you get busy enough, it's really easy.

I've been saying NO a lot lately. Friends, Relationships, Collegues, Family to whom I have firmed up and said no for a lot of critical issues. I do not know if I am evolving, changing, growing forward or back, but decisions made. Right or wrong let no one judge me coz choices are made alone.

Integrity?? Commitment??

What is integrity?

Integrity is simple - it means doing what you said you would. A lot of people put higher moral meanings to the word, but let's demystify it.

If you do not keep your promises - you are not acting with integrity.
If you keep your promises - you act with integrity.

Commitment is also a very controversial subject. There are many definitions of it but the main idea of commitment is, that one person is completely dedicating themselves to a certain thing, in this case, their mate.

To Quote Anon - The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

It get very irritating in life when people make a meal out for the simplest words - COMMITMENT. Be it weather for relationships, friendships or even work, it is a very important to practice and preach it as well.What do we mean by commitment. Here's the web cut at a working definition.

Summary: Commitment is an acceptance of personal responsibility to honor a measurable objective. This implies the following:

1: If you aren't free to reject the responsibility or the objective, it can't be a commitment.
2: If you aren't given authority commensurate with the responsibility, it can't be a commitment.
3: If the objective is not well-defined or the measures are ill-defined or the objective cannot be measured in any meaningful way, it can't be a commitment.
4: If any parties feel that another party will not act in good faith, they will not be willing to make a commitment.

I like no 3 & 4, why? Well in recent time I am faced with that, it irritates me when a simple commitment to an activity if lumped out of the way at the last minute. I dun judge the reasons (I dun like going there), but take the initiative and step up to the plate and dun let ur mates down.

Oh another fact I hate having to remind people to show up for something they have agreed upon!!!

The purpose of a wedding ritual is for you to stand before your community, hand in hand with your beloved, and talk about how this love has transformed you. Know what promises you will be making to one another, because you will live with these promises for the rest of your lives.

I have always thought the purpose of a wedding was to see you and your love united. Not to judge your friends and decor and choice of colors...Or whatever crap people gripe about. But then, like I said, maybe I don't realize some of the things people have problems with. I m happy with the knowledge that people at Weddings should be and are are interested in seeing them married, rather than focusing on small, unimportant details.

PENANG: He died tragically at the age of 19 from brain tumour. But Teoh Chit Hwa’s act of donating his tissue and organs will give 35 people a new lease of life.

The college student whose ashes will be scattered in Taiwan had once expressed a wish to donate his organs, and when he was declared brain dead at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian last Thursday, his organs were harvested for transplant.

His liver, heart and kidneys were immediately transplanted into waiting recipients. His bones, which were cut into smaller pieces, and skin are currently being kept at the USM Hospital in Kubang Kerian awaiting transplant.

His mother Yew Shot Foon, 55, said Chit Hwa, a former student of Chung Ling High School here, told them two years ago that he wanted to donate his organs, after being inspired by a Korean television series. “When Chit Hwa was brain dead and on life support in hospital, we were reluctant at first and did not give up hope as his heart was still beating,” said Yew, a seamstress.

“We decided at last to fulfil his wish before it was too late and the organs become useless.”

Eleven family members and friends, including his father Chang Aun, 56, and only sister Wan Cheen, 21, turned up at the Batu Gantong crematorium yesterday to collect his ashes.

The family will fly to Taiwan today to scatter his ashes in a river flowing into the Pacific Ocean that had been Chit Hwa’s favourite spot when his godfather took him there in January.

“He loved peaceful scenery and was a quiet boy at home. We only realised how active he was when his friends compiled a commemorative photo album for us,” said Chang Aun, an odd- job worker.

“Although he has died, it still feels like he’s alive because of his meaningful decision (to give away his organs).”

Chang Aun added that his son had a peaceful expression as he lay in his coffin, and even a young girl was not afraid to caress his face when paying her last respects before the cremation on Saturday. Chit Hwa was initially diagnosed as having ulcers two years ago, and on Jan 12, doctors gave the bad news that he had a brain tumour.

Badminton

For me the beauty of badminton is that it combines a feinting, soft touch with accuracy, includes quick starts and stops with good footwork and body position, and involves explosive hits that send a speeding birdie toward the opposition. We need to employ a wide variety of strokes in the right situations. These range from extraordinarily powerful jumping smashes to soft, delicate tumbling net returns. We all wanna be at that level, but to reach it is not easy. Having said that, the weekly badminton that I head out to is both for exercise, losing a beer belly and loving the game. You got to love the game, then you will have the heart for it.

For instance, The smash is a powerful overhead stroke played steeply downwards its a very effective stroke, and pleases the crowds, but smashing is only one part of the game. Often rallies finish with a smash, but setting up the smash requires subtler strokes. For example, a netshot can force the opponent to lift the shuttle, which gives an opportunity to smash. If the netshot is tight and tumbling, then the opponent's lift will not reach the back of the court, which makes the subsequent smash much harder to return. Generally that a power game, for me, I am not a power players, yeah I can smash (Jen string my racquet please), my weakness in backhands but I love to play deception shots, take smashes and play it back where they least expected. Now the stage I am in, is where the mind know what I want to do but the body does not lol.

I love deception and deception is also important. We try to make the preparation for many different strokes look identical, so that their opponents cannot guess which stroke will be played. For many strokes, the shuttlecock can be sliced to change its direction; this allows a player to move his racket in a different direction to the trajectory of the shuttlecock. If an opponent tries to anticipate the stroke, he will move in the wrong direction and may be unable to change his body momentum in time to reach the shuttlecock and thats the jackpot.

Among the shots available
Clear: Hit overhead from the backcourt to the opponents backcourt. The aim is to hit the shuttle up. It is useful for producing time for the player, so that he can recover more easily. Used stragetically to push the opponent backwards.

Smash: Hit overhead from anywhere behind the forecourt. The aim is to hit the shuttle down as hard and fast as possible, as it clearly wins the game if the shuttle touches the floor.

Drop shot: Hit overhead from the backcourt to the opponents forecourt. The aim is to make the shuttle just pass the net. Stragetically used to bring the opponent foreward.

Drive: Hit in front or on the side of the body, aiming to keep the shuttle low but going to the backcourt.

Lift: Hit in front of the body near the net. The aim is to "lift" the shuttle to the rearcourt. Similar to a lob in tennis. Also used to push an opponent to the backcourt.

Netshot: Hit in front of the body near the net. The aim is to hit the shuttle just past the net . Used to bring the opponent to the forecourt.

Barcelona came back from a goal down to beat 10-man Arsenal 2-1 to win the Champions League final at the Stade de France. Late goals from Samuel Eto'o and substitute Juliano Belletti cancelled out a first-half header from Arsenal defender Sol Campbell. Arsenal became the first side ever to have a player sent off in a final when keeper Jens Lehmann was dismissed early on.

My View - A game worthy of watching till the very end, Being a Kop, I always admired a team with versatality and dynamic and depth. Barca are all that even if you forget Ronaldhinio the flair of Deco, Iniesta, Larson, Eto, Puyol but in the Gunners you can help admire their team form Lehmann, young stars like Flamini, Fabregas, Helb, with Henry, Gibeltro.... a situation you dun know who to root for. Arsenal defended in the manner that had created a new Champions League record for impregnable defense that during Wednesday's game nearly reached 1,000 minutes before they were breached.

In the end it was somewhat short of the classic we had anticipated but 10 vs 11. who could argue that. Well done Barca!!!!!

Food heaven - Bali Hai

I could have been in an episode of National Georgaphic for all I could care when I visited this place not so long ago. Along Gurney Drive a heaven for food and it does not come cheap. I balked at the bill but it was work every minute.

Ther eis only so much you can do when you in a food heaven, especially on a Japanese buffet. Honestly I have never been to on and seeing the bill I rather not go to one again. Y? coz $$$

I was treated to one a while back and both the food and the company was superb, I has an old friend treat me and so much water has passed under the bridge. It was lovely, nice and bloody full. Burp!!!!!

Liverpool Wins FA Cup Title

Liverpool wins the FA Cup. Well, that one had to suck, if you’re a West Ham fan. The Hammers were up by two goals in the final game for the championship of all of England… only to see Steven Gerrard score from way out in the 90th minute to the tie the game. Then, of course, Liverpool went on to win the game on penalties. That one’s gonna sting for a while.

One of the greatest of all the 125 FA Cup finals was taken into extra time by a stunning last-minute 30-meter shot by Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who also converted a shoot-out penalty. For the Record ...Liverpool has won its seventh English Football Association Cup title by rallying from a two-goal deficit and beating West Ham, 3-1, on penalties in Cardiff, Wales. Dietmar Hamman, Steven Gerrard and John Arne Riise converted for Liverpool in the shoot-out.

After witness ing a 3 week old Moniessha Devi battling to survive and well wishers chip in to help, my grand aunt passing away it kind of get you in a somber mood but as they say every cloud has a silver lining I bring you a real story that highlights the silverlining. It warm me heart to read this.

BEACONSFIELD, Australia - Beer and other drinks flowed freely Tuesday as Beaconsfield celebrated the rescue of two miners entombed underground for two weeks.

But as Brant Webb and Todd Russell were reunited with their families and friends, doctors warned they may have suffered psychological trauma from their ordeal trapped 3,000 feet below the surface.

"Their physical condition is excellent," said Stephen Ayre, chief executive of Launceston General Hospital, where the men were treated. "We just need to be mindful of the psychological outcomes and monitor that through the family and through the supports that they have."

The mammoth effort to free Webb and Russell from the Beaconsfield Gold Mine transfixed Australia and transformed the pair into household names. The men, who survived some 320 hours in a cramped steel safety cage under tons of rocks, walked unaided from the mine before dawn Tuesday after rescuers completed a 52-foot escape shaft, hacking away the last few inches of rock with chisels.

To announce the rescue in the town in the southern state of Tasmania, sirens wailed and a church bell not used since the end of World War II rang out. Many miners celebrated with free beer.

After a few hours of medical checks, the men discharged themselves from the hospital, and Russell attended the funeral of Larry Knight, 44, a colleague killed in the April 25 rockfall. It was not immediately known if Webb was there.

Neither rescued miner gave any interviews Tuesday.

Later in the day, a slightly limping Russell went to his local pub for a bourbon and Coke.

He exchanged high-fives with friends and chatted with them before sitting down to talk to a television executive, who announced a telethon would be held to raise money for the 1,000-member community.

"There are no super heroes, there are just normal human beings and the way people react in these situations is utterly predictable. Nearly everyone will come out of a traumatic experience with an acute stress reaction."

Today my grand aunt passes away...was initially supposed to levae to go to meet her but she passed on early. Loved her to bits. Seh passes on on old age. Being the notty big mouth kiddo in the family, I was darling of all the aunts and uncles for my breashness and cheekyness even now when I go back I make it a point to visit them occasionally. Today she passes on. Bless that soul. She lived a good life.

My Frens' daughter

FRAGILE BABY: Three-week-old Moniessha Devi suffers from congenital heart disease. She is currently seeking medical treatment at Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre. Moniessha’s surgery will cost RM35,000.

This is my friend daughter, if you know anyone who can help or if you can help do so.


Over the years, teacher A. Santharan regularly donated money for sick children needing surgery. Now he needs help for his own daughter.


Three-week-old Moniessha Devi suffers from congenital heart disease, and Santharan is appealing for donations.

"I never dreamt I would be in this situation," he said. "I can truly understand now how awful it is for parents who go through this."

Doctors at Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre have diagnosed Moniessha with TAPVD — "total abnomalous pulmonary venous return intradiaphragmatic".

The condition means that oxygenated blood from Moniessha’s lungs is being channelled to the right chamber of the heart and not the left, as it should be. The surgery will cost RM35,000.

"She has difficulty breathing," he said, adding that Moniessha has to use a lot of oxygen, putting a lot of pressure on her lungs.

"That is why we need the surgery as soon as possible," said Santharan, who earns RM2,000 a month. His wife, Mila Rosa Jaballa, is a housewife. They have two other children, aged five and three.

Splash Dash hugs and Realities of relationships

Back up here after the weekend in Klang (Jnr Vadai not well) was watching F1 - Go Shumi!!! - They had an interesting episode of KL Lights which touches on expectations of relationships. A lot of time we take relationships for granted, we start assuming too much for the other. I mean all kinds of relationship, new and old.

As I reflect back over the past 18 months since I began my journey, the pain I have suffered, the mask I have worn, the joys I have had and new people who have come into my life, not just love but friendship. I have love and gain friends and never have I regretted that. I have people I can fight with, talk to, shoulder to lean on and it works both way, (handkerchief). There are time I talk and there are time I just shut up.

This past week has been trying for me and enough is enough. I aint looking for love and if love comes knocking on my door I am gonna look at it and make a choice. (Thats not too hard) It is hard this roudabout thingy where you dun know what coming and you go in circles again and again coz its either the other party does not respect what you want or they dun know what the heck they want from you or what the heck they want to give you (complicate huh, welcome to reality)

Anyway back to KL Lights - Why do we really take people and relationships for granted ? Is it the comfort of the relationship or is it too much of familiarity? Any relationship I personally think is a full time job, if anybody feels otherwise then either has a relationship that probably doesn't mean all that much or maybe its just a trifle not deep (read shallow) attitude towards making and sustaining friendships/relationships. Its been a lingering thought in my head for a while now. Well next week should be interesting!!!

Losing Innocence

Often with painful clarity, the events, stories, movies, songs, and mainly tragedy reflect universal themes of death and loss, love and hate, religion, sexuality, relationships, and family dynamics which show young people bridging the gap between childhood and adulthood and losing innocence.

Such was my weekend, of people losing innocence which ironically was a topic on a blogger fren of mine.

People who live with the constant threat of danger are forced to let go of the notions that make us less than human. In most parts of the world, people learn to live with the on-going threat of danger. Children see people die. They lose their innocence. They know that life isn't fair, that good people die, bad people can survive and that war and peace are two sides of the same coin. In many a sense we are in a better place and position compared to the less unfortunate

People who live with terror are more wary and less secure and, at the same time, they're often more human. While they may be permanently scarred, they exhibit strength and resilience. And they value life differently.

Today, it is difficult to imagine that anything good can come out tragedies around the world and in our own backyard. It is hard to ponder anything beyond revenge. But none of us can go back to life as usual. The time has come to let go of the hopes and dreams of our lost adolescence. We must come to terms with the fact that life is not always about healing. We evolve

Tonigh review - MI3 IMAX Rocks!!!

Vadai says: Fishbourne is great as the ambiguously dirty IMF leader. But the best actor in the movie is Philip Seymour Hoffman. Not many actors can take a role that's more one-dimensional than Doctor Evil and turn it into a deeply layered performance. From an acting standpoint, there was almost a feeling that he was too good for this movie and the actors around him. He doesn't breathe the same air as this cast, not even Tom Cruise.Fishbourne hold his own a class of his own

My day the good the bad and the ugly

Today was a mixed bag of emotions... coming into work it was great to get into the day, my colleague decided to get into my hair and I put him in his place. Even though I report to him indirectly there was a need to make my stand and I did. My MD surprised the tender team that worked through the weekend with a gift for each and a pat on the back. It nice to be recognized.

Today 2 conversation/chats/sms ticked me off.

For me friendship is a 2 way street, just like in a traffic intersection you have moments that you back off and you move forward when you see a green light. This applies to all forms of relationship. The prob is when you get to an intersection when the lights fail (great illustration aint it) and just the amber light blinking, you have not damm clue what to do. So you send probe and make certain assumption, the problem is you dont know what the other side is thinking and it can get pretty irritating. I wish I could tear down the walls of innuendoes and perception and get to the point. I can so I am stuck with it


Along come with another with probing question in my life, who, where, when, why. I have lovely colorful past....If I look into the past, I can see many burdens I carried into the future. I wonder if it is not forgetting or leaving the past behind, but rather keeping the past in it's place. Remembering that all that came before helped to define who you are today......Although we learn from the past, it influences our future by making us weary of taking risks. I'm sure most of us have had our share of bad experiences.

My word is my bond, many a times to my fren is Vadai says something he will deliver, trust, respect and honor are all built on that. When what I say is questioned, it humiliates me for that I fight. I feel so sad for those who cannot let go of the past. Chances to change anotherÂ’s life occur at random moments and it is up to each of us to be alert to their presence and to not allow them to pass between the cracks and realize our mistake in not seeing them when it is too late. I got my chance and moved on.

Why am I posting this again coz I see people around me and in their blogs cant make 2 cents bout friendship and comentators in their blog futher critisize friendship. That ring my bell big time, I am a serious advocate of friendship and I take my friendship wiht friends seriously.

A feast for Friends

No like I went to sea and cought the fish, ironicall the petite ipoh-mali lass cought the whopper 2kg over siakap. Having had fish cooked in everyway finally decided to try curry indian style, the hands to help arrived and we got going. I was not feeling to well as my BP was acting up again. Started bout 7, with my tele-consultant on stand by.


Few of the challanges were how to cook that bit and the proportions to have it for over 7 people was wow!!!.


In the end this was the result.................. (PS the food actually finished!!!)

When You Divorce Me, Carry Me Out in Your Arms

On my wedding day, I carried my wife in my arms. The bridal car stopped in front of our one-room flat. My buddies insisted that I carry her out of the car in my arms. So I carried her into our home. She was then plump and shy. I was a strong and happy bridegroom.

This was the scene ten years ago.

The following days were as simple as a cup of pure water: we had a kid; I went into business and tried to make more money. When the assets were steadily increasing, the affection between us seemed to ebb. She was a civil servant. Every morning we left home together and got home almost at the same time. Our kid was studying in a boarding school.

Our marriage life seemed to be enviably happy. But the calm life was more likely to be affected by unpredictable changes.

Dew came into my life.

It was a sunny day. I stood on a spacious balcony. Dew hugged me from behind. My heart once again was immersed in her stream of love. This was the apartment I bought for her.

Dew said, you are the kind of man who best draws girls' eyeballs. Her words suddenly reminded me of my wife. When we were just married, my wife said, Men like you, once successful, will be very attractive to girls.

Thinking of this, I became somewhat hesitant. I knew I had betrayed my wife. But I couldn't help doing so.

I moved Dew's hands aside and said you go to select some furniture, O.K.? I've got something to do in the company. Obviously she was unhappy, because I had promised to do it together with her. At the moment, the idea of divorce became clearer in my mind although it used to be something impossible to me.

However, I found it rather difficult to tell my wife about it. No matter how mildly I mentioned it to her, she would be deeply hurt.

Honestly, she was a good wife. Every evening she was busy preparing dinner. I was sitting in front of the TV. The dinner was ready soon. Then we watched TV together. Or, I was lounging before the computer, visualizing Dew's body. This was the means of my entertainment.

One day I said to her in a slightly joking way, suppose we divorce, what will you do? She stared at me for a few seconds without a word. Apparently she believed that divorce was something too far away from her. I couldn't imagine how she would react once she got to know I was serious.

When my wife went to my office, Dew had just stepped out. Almost all the staff looked at my wife with a sympathetic eye and tried to hide something while talking to her. She seemed to have got some hint. She gently smiled at my subordinates. But I read some hurt in her eyes.

Once again, Dew said to me, He Ning, divorce her, O.K.? Then we live together. I nodded. I knew I could not hesitate any more.

When my wife served the last dish, I held her hand. I've got something to tell you, I said. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the serious topic calmly.

She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I'm serious. I avoided her question. This so-called answer made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man!

That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer, because my heart had gone to Dew.

With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. I felt a pain in my heart. The woman who had been living ten years with me would become a stranger one day. But I could not take back what I had said.

Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer.

Late that night, I came back home after entertaining my clients. I saw her writing something at the table. I fall asleep fast. When I woke up, I found she was still there. I turned over and was asleep again.

She brought up her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but I was supposed to give her one month s time before divorce, and in the month's time we must live as normal a life as possible. Her reason was simple: our son would finish his summer vacation a month later and she didn't want him to see our marriage was broken.

She passed me the agreement she drafted, and then asked me, He Ning, do you still remember how I entered our bridal room on the wedding day? This question suddenly brought back all those wonderful memories to me. I nodded and said, I remember. You carried me in your arms, she continued, so, I have a requirement, that is, you carry me out in your arms on the day when we divorce. From now to the end of this month, you must carry me out from the bedroom to the door every morning.

I accepted with a smile. I knew she missed those sweet days and wished to end her marriage romantically.

I told Dew about my wife s divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she does, she has to face the result of divorce, she said scornfully. Her words more or less made me feel uncomfortable.

My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. We even treated each other as a stranger. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mummy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly, Let us start from today, don't tell our son. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for a bus, I drove to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. We were so close that I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this intimate woman carefully for a long time. I found she was not young any more. There were some fine wrinkles on her face.

On the third day, she whispered to me, the outside garden is being demolished. Be careful when you pass there.

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I seemed to feel that we were still an intimate couple and I was holding my sweetheart in my arms. The visualization of Dew became vague.

On the fifth and sixth day, she kept reminding me something, such as, where she put the ironed shirts, I should be careful while cooking, etc. I nodded. The sense of intimacy was even stronger. I didn't tell Dew about this.

I felt it was easier to carry her. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger. I said to her, It seems not difficult to carry you now. She was picking her dresses. I was waiting to carry her out. She tried quite a few but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I smiled. But I suddenly realized that it was because she was thinner that I could carry her more easily, not because I was stronger. I knew she had buried all the bitterness in her heart. Again, I felt a sense of pain. Subconsciously I reached out a hand to touch her head.

Our son came in at the moment. Dad, it's time to carry mum out. He said. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had been an essential part of his life. She gestured our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face because I was afraid I would change my mind at the last minute. I held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly, as if we came back to our wedding day. But her much lighter weight made me sad.

On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. She said, actually I hope you will hold me in your arms until we are old.

I held her tightly and said, both you and I didn't notice that our life lacked intimacy.

I jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my decision. I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door. I said to her, Sorry, Dew, I won't divorce. I'm serious.

She looked at me, astonished. The she touched my forehead. You got no fever. She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Dew, I said, I can only say sorry to you, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of life, not because we didn't love each other any more. Now I understand that since I carried her into the home, she gave birth to our child, I am supposed to hold her until I am old. So I have to say sorry to you.

Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove to the office.

When I passed the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet for my wife which was her favorite. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until we are old.

Tagline: In 141 years, there's never been a traitor in the Secret Service.... Until Now.

Plot Outline: A disgraced special agent to the White House (Douglas) endeavors to foil a conspiracy to assassinate the U.S. President.

The promising was great then it all went spiraling down, the only good thing about the movie was the company. What was a movie lead by star studded cast actually failed to deliver, it was an average B movie look who is in there Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria, Kim Basinger...seriously it stinks. It’s a thriller without the thrills, a who-done-it that makes you wonder why they did it.

That’s nothing, though, compared to the disservice it does to the Secret Service, a proud prestigious law-enforcement unit that’s portrayed as a band of rogue agents with bad aim and even worse morals. It’s also so shamefully predictable that you’d have to be a complete imbecile not to pick out the mole almost immediately. In fact, the film never even gives us a reason to suspect Douglas is complicit in the plot. And without that, where’s the suspense? Down the drain.

Anyway the company by L was far more entertaining then the movie could project, nice company for dinner, decided ot try out KRRosters latest lamb. Nicely presented dish but bad meat cuts, anyway its was kira ok la. KRR should stick to chicken. Thanks for the company L.
