The Usual Suspects

Lucky Number Slevin (LNS) wait 1st

If I am gonna rant and rave and praise and talk about Kansas City Shuffle and misdirection, I would do not justice I it do not do a review of a movie that came to our screens 10 years ago.

Synopsis

Director Bryan Singer's labyrinthine crime drama centers on five career criminals (played by Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Pollak, and Stephen Baldwin) who meet after being rounded up for a standard police line-up. Upon their release, the men band together to pull off an intricate heist involving $3 million worth of emeralds. Their success brings them to the attention of the enigmatic Keyser Soze, an unseen, nefarious, and mythic underworld crime figure who coerces them into pulling off an important and highly dangerous job. The scenes that follow make THE USUAL SUSPECTS one of the most fascinating crime thrillers in cinema history.

Believe every word they say coz this will blow you mind, if M.Night Shyamalan blew you away in The Sixth Sense with his magical ending, then you will be blown away by the ending in this.
Through this movie Keyser Soze became a house hold name of terror and misdirection. Kevin Spacey awe truly awesome in this potrayal. This is a truly Kansas City Shuffle. So whats a Kansas City Shuffle??.... wait for the next blog lol!!!

Quotes
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."--Kint to Kujan

"It was Keyser Soze, Agent Kujan. I mean the devil himself. How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?"--Kint to Kujan

Verbal: Gee, thanks, Dave. Bang-up job so far. Extortion, coercion. You'll pardon me if I ask you to kiss my pucker. The same fuckers that rounded us up and sank us into this mess are telling me They'll bail me out? Fuck you. You think you can catch Keyser Soze? You think a guy like that comes this close to getting fingered and sticks his head out? If he comes up for anything, it will be to get rid of me. After that, my guess is you'll never hear from him again.

Who is Keyser Soze?
Keyser Soze (pronounced KAI-zer SOE-zay) is a fictional character in the 1995 movie The Usual Suspects, written by Christopher McQuarrie. In the film, Soze is an underworld kingpin whose ruthlessness and influence have a legendary, even mythical status among law enforcement agents and criminals alike.

MY View Point!!!

One of the main reasons that 'The Usual Suspects' leaves such a long-lasting impression on the viewer is that it takes advantage of the gullibility of the audience thats you and me. For the 80% we are delivered an intriguing and complex story to which there seems no easy answer. When the final piece of the puzzle seems to be in place the entire film is turned on its head. This final revelation initially leaves you speechless and then shortly after the audience realises that they have fallen for a brilliantly inspired trick. The second great trick that this film plays on its audience is making us think that by watching it again we'll be able to understand slightly better what was really going on. NOT!!!!

The Usual Suspects, is, in my mind, one of the most fantastic pieces of film-making ever to grace the screens. That a group of people can come up with a piece of fiction that is so excellent in every way, from start to finish, is frightening. Go watch it!
